ROOTS
In 1991, the Philippine Associationof Endoscopic Surgeons (PAES) and the Philippine Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons (PSLS) were both constituted in separate venues. They served as the hub that organized and consolidated MIS practitioners throughout the Philippines.
In 2006, these organizations merged to form what is now known as the Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons (PALES). The merger has strengthened and consolidates the resources and advocacies. Guided by its revised vision and objectives, the organization has resolved to ensure that quality be the core value shared in common by all laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeons in the country.
In 2011, the PALES established its first five (5) regional chapters strategically based in the key centers of the archipelago. Since then, there has been a focused effort of establishing a solid network of communications nationwide, thereby making the organization, a “true” national organization responsive and accessible to all surgeons
